Non Paying Bidder: haylznailz
I find the attitude of this one particularly annoying. Very immature, insulting and definitely one for the blocked bidders list. According to this young lady I need to chill out and cheaply infers that I may be a thief. She seems to think it perfectly normal not to have paid after a month and thinks that because she has 3 children and lives such a busy lifestyle that she can't possibly make payment in such a short time as one month.
Here are the details. You make up your own mind.
23 May 2003
Haylznailz bids on my auction for a cordless microphone winning with a bid of £15.00 with £3.50 recorded postage & packaging. At the time she had no feedback.
I sent her the following email after the auction:
|
Hi Hayley Congratulations and thank you for your winning
bid on the cordless
microphone. I don't mind how you
pay as long as it's not by cash through the
post. My preferred method is direct bank
transfer as it is the cheapest and safest method.
If you would like to pay this way I will
email my bank details straight to you.
Otherwise PayPal is the quickest method.
If you pay by PayPal you
must add 4% of the total including
P&P towards their charges.
This can be added in the postal charges part
of the form you fill in when you pay. We
are also quite happy to accept cheques or postal
orders. Postal orders should be made payable to: Mr Wayne Punter
Please
make sure you include your name, address and
the item you bid on with any correspondence
and payment. Please email me with your details and how you will be paying
within three days of the end of auction.
Payment should be received within 10 days.
I will leave feedback as soon as payment is received
and cleared. I would greatly appreciate
it if you could also leave feedback once you receive and
have inspected your cordless microphone. I would also greatly
appreciate it if you could just send me a little
email to confirm that the microphone has
been delivered. Once again thank you for your purchase. Best

In just a couple of hours at 00:03hrs she sends me the following email.
| hi

I replied to her the following afternoon (Saturday 24 May 2003) with this email.
|
Hi Hayley
Thanks for your email.
The microphone will certainly work with a karaoke machine. Simply
plug the receiver into where you plug your normal microphone and away
you go.
Paying via bank is easy.
You can either go straight to your nearest LloydsTSB and pay it straight
over the counter or if you have online banking you can log on to your
account and there should be a button there somewhere to make a payment.
Just click on that and then fill in the details I have provided.
If you pay straight over
a counter I will receive it within 24 hours or if you do it via a transfer
from your bank to mine it can take up to 4 days. Either way it's
quicker than a cheque and cheaper because you don't have to buy a stamp
and envelope.
My bank details are:
Any problems just send
me an email.
Best Regards

I looked forward to receiving the cash and kept an eye on my account so that I could send the microphone out as soon as payment was received. But guess what!!! No payment!!! So on 03 June 2003 at 19:53hrs I sent the following mail.
| Hi Hayley Eleven days ago on the 23 May 2003 you won my auction for a cordless microphone. You emailed me on the 24th saying that you would pay by direct bank transfer on the 26th. As yet I have not received any payment into my bank account. Could you please email me asap to let me know when to expect payment. Regards Wayne Digital Promotions UK |
She replied in less than 1 hour with:
sorry
wayne been so busy this end will do it in the next 2 days when im in town
ok --- |
I was happy with her reply and quick response so left it at that. Until Saturday (07 June 2003) when I still had not received payment. So I sent her the following email.
| Hi Hayley On Tuesday 03 June you replied to my payment reminder saying that you would put payment for the microphone in my account within a couple of days. It is two weeks now since the auction and I have yet to receive payment. Could you please let me know when you will be making payment. Regards Wayne Digital Promotions-UK |
I received no reply to this email so on Tuesday 10 June 2003 I filed NPB report to Ebay hoping that the reminder Ebay automatically send would jar her memory and she would finally make payment. This is the email sent to me.

Sadly no payment was forthcoming so on Thursday 19 June 2003 at 23:40hrs I sent her the following final reminder:
| Hi Hayley I have emailed you several times now concerning payment for the microphone you bid and won on 23rd May. I find it particularly insulting that since then you have bid, won and paid for a pair of trainers yet you think it is okay to bid on my auctions and then not pay. If I do not receive full payment by Monday I will leave you negative feedback and claim my selling fees back from Ebay who will give you an official warning. Wayne Digital Promotions-UK |
In a record breaking 6 minutes she sent the following reply:
| erm
exscuse me wayne there is no need to take that attitude yes i do apologise for not returning your mail about the bid on the microphone but i have been very busy the mic i bid for was for my daughter for your information the trainers that were bought on ebay werent for me they were bid by husband ok he bid and paid for them in my name as he doesnt use pc often and hasnt registered i do still want then microphone and will be making payment early next week any problems mail me hayley --- |
I have to say I was a bit put out by this email and immediately responded with the following:
| Hayley What do you mean there is no need to take "that" attitude? You bid on one of my auctions on 23 May. You told me you would be paying by bank transfer. It never turned up. I sent you a friendly reminder on 03 June to which you apologised and said you would make payment within a couple of days. After four days I still hadn't received payment so sent you another reminder which you ignored. I left it another three days and after no reply from you reported you as a non paying bidder to which Ebay send you a reminder. You ignored that too. If I bought something off of you and after nearly a month still hadn't paid you, or even offered a reasonable excuse as to why not, what kind of attitude do you think you would adopt? Being "busy" is no excuse for not paying for something you bid on a month ago. I am busy too but I don't wait a month before I send peoples purchases out. If you had paid on time but I took a month to post the microphone to you would you be okay with that? I seriously doubt it indeed. I think my email to you was more than fair stating quite plainly and without any "attitude" what action I will take if I do not receive payment from you by Monday. I think waiting a month for payment before leaving negative feedback and reporting you for non payment shows a very understanding attitude on my part. Especially as in my terms of sale I clearly state in big red letters that payment should be received within 7 days. I shall wait until Monday for your payment and no longer. Good night. To this email she displayed her true immaturity and silliness by sending the following two emails that I didn't lower myself to reply to.
| im

|
What amazes me is that for a woman with such a busy lifestyle and who claims to not have enough time to spend all day on the Internet she is very quick with her replies. Obviously not that busy.
It is now Monday 23 June 2003 and as expected no payment has arrived so this has been written and I shall now leave negative feedback with link to this page and claim back my FVF's (Final Value Fees) from Ebay. Unfortunately Ebay do not refund the cost of listing auctions.
Update 22 August 2003
I just received this email in my inbox. What a charming young lady.
| your nothing but a complete tosser !
